Carrigain

I thought there would be a trip report on Carrigain from the many other hikers of greater accomplishment but not seeing one I'll post one. Trail well packed. People used microspikes or snowshoes to get to the top, and the ones I saw used snowshoes down at least to the open stream crossing, where I switched back. It is open but the water is low and so with care one can rock hop. I carried the mighty tough little dog across both ways but going up a pretty black lab just went right through it and her paws didn't ice up. Pepper needs a set of those paws. All other crossings ice bridged or step overs. No blowdowns. A few snowmobilers on the road. Wind on the ridge part of the trail was strong, not bad on the top and not a factor anywhere else. We had the trails most of the time to ourselves which was great, but the best part of the trip was meeting Bob and Geri and group with the nice Lab, Thin Man at the top and Rocket 21 and friend on the road and at the parking. Hikers are such a nice bunch.
